Finite Element Analysis with SolidWorks

Posted by Albert Whatmough in Untagged

When designing parting in SolidWorks it is important to be able to validate your design and analyze stress concentrations in the model.  This is done using a process called FEA or Finite Element Analysis.  With SolidWorks this is done with an Add-In called Simulation.  For users who just need to analyze single Solid Bodies they can use SimulationXpress.  As a quick side note, in previous versions of SolidWorks this was referred to as COSMOS and COSMOSXpress

The above video is taken directly for the SolidWorks Fundamentals by Inspirtech, a great structured learning resource for new SolidWorks users.

Curve Driven Patterns Tips

Posted by Albert Whatmough in Untagged

In SolidWorks there are a number ways of creating patterns.  You can use sketch based patterns or Feature based patterns.  Each type of pattern has its advantage.  In this video (Taken Dirrectly from SolidWorks Fundamentals) we will look at curve Driven feature patterns.   Additional, as we do through out the all of the videos, time will be taken to show how a curve driven pattern can be used to capture your design intent.

The interesting thing is that curver driven patterns work extremly well to equally space features even when they are in a straight line an a "linear pattern" seems more appropriate.  Watch and find out why!
